Advanced Safety Features
The way Toyota handles standard active safety technology is grand! Each grade comes equipped with adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking with pedestrian recognition, lane departure warning, automatic high-beam control, and even a driver fatigue detection system!
As a result, the Tacoma TRD Sport, the Tacoma SR, and SR5 are all pure beasts when it comes to off-road capabilities! Due to their custom suspension tuning, off-road-oriented shock absorbers, locking rear differential, and skid plates, the TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro trims are particularly well suited for hitting the trails. Not sure which one to go for? Visit us in Cedar Rapids or Iowa City to check out this great truck for yourself.

Upscaled Interior
The entry-level SR variant has voice recognition, six-speaker audio, Bluetooth, four-way front seats, and a 7-inch touch screen. Additional features include the forward collision warning, pedestrian recognition, lane departure warning, and more "as standard" active safety features.
The SR5 gets an 8-inch touch screen, fog lights, remote keyless entry, and a steering wheel covered in leather. A 10-way power driver's seat, access cab, a shifter wrapped in leather, push-button start, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and a sport-tuned suspension are all included in the Sport model. Users will get Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa connectivity on all trims.
The seat's increased downward adjustment increases front seat roominess, which is great for those who want a car with more space. The forward- and side-looking camera systems all contribute to excellent visibility.

Respectable Performance
The Tacoma's standard V-6 engine offers respectable performance and hauling power. The TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro variants are for those driving on harsher roads, while the TRD Sport and Limited trims are designed for city driving. The 3.5-liter V-6 DOHC engine (Atkinson-cycle) with VVT-iW and VVT-iE is the second engine available for the 2022 Toyota Tacoma.

The engine's highest output is 278 horsepower at 6000 revolutions per minute, and its maximum torque is 265 lb-ft at 4600. The standard 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine produces 159 horsepower. Although it is a standard feature in the SR and SR5 trims, it is seriously underpowered. The improved 3.5-liter V6 engine with 278 horsepower, which is standard in all but the first two models, is probably what you'll prefer. But don't have too high of expectations for this engine. The truck moves faster thanks to the V6.

Engine Performance
Numbers for the economy should resemble those from the prior model. The 2021 Tacoma's maximum fuel economy was 19/24 mpg with the six-cylinder engine. The newer Rear-drive, 4-cylinder Tacomas score 20 mpg in the city, 23 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg overall.
These numbers drop to 19/22/20 mpg with the four-wheel drive since the 4-cylinder needs to work so hard to keep this vehicle moving. With rear-drive and 18/22/20 mpg in four-wheel-drive combinations, more popular V-6 vehicles do somewhat better overall, making it a great family vehicle that can also manage rough terrain.
