Is Your Vehicle Ready for Winter?

Winter roads can be dangerous, and having to drive somewhere during a winterstorm can be a real burden. Make sure your car is prepared for any winterstorm or winter driving by servicing your car, driving safely, and packing awinter car emergency kit.
- Make sure that your vehicle is up to date for routine maintenance
- Check tires for excessive wear
- Perform a coolant fluid exchange
- Check the health of the battery
- Check the brake system and pads and rotors
- Inspect belts and hoses
- Inspect the heating and defrost system operation
- Inspect hoses and belts
- Replace wiper blades
- Check the interior and exterior lights
- Always carry a cell phone
- Have a winter safety kit in the vehicle: battery jumper cables, large flashlight with extra batteries, basic first aid supplies, extra blankets and clothing, battery powered radio and extra batteries, tool kit, bottled water and nonperishable food, highway safety flares, and windshield scraper.
