GMC Sierra vs. Ford F-150

Style and Personality
Truck buyers tend to be very loyal and passionate about their favorite truck brand, and F-150 and Sierra owners are no different. This makes it mighty hard to get a straight answer on which truck is best for each person's preferences. We are here to help. That's why we are going to compare the F_150 vs. Sierra 1500 to make it easier for you to choose between the two. Both trucks have impressive technology, performance capability, and unique styling so you cannot go wrong with either one!
The trucks are very similar sizes with the Sierra being slightly wider than the F-150 but only by a small amount. The Sierra has what some would consider a slightly more modern look with angled LED daytime running lights and a more dynamic grill shape. The F-150's bar grill design has a more classic "truck" personality with straighter body lines. The style of each is very distinct and spending a few minutes around each will be enough to give you an idea of which you prefer. We would be happy to have two sitting side by side for your arrival or we can send you a video of them side by side if you prefer!

Performance
The engine options are great on both trucks with Ford offering 6 engine options starting at the 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 and moving all the way up to the H.O. EcoBoost® Twin-Turbocharged V6 with 450 horsepower. GMC offers 5 engines starting with the 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 and going all the way up to the 6.2L V8 engine with 8-speed transmission that outputs 420 horsepower. Ford and GM teamed up to develop a 10-speed transmission together that provides quick and smooth acceleration.
Both trucks also have a diesel option. Ford has the 3.0L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel V6 with 250 horsepower and 440 lb.-ft. of torque while GMC has the 3.0L Duramax® 1-6 Turbo-Diesel that outputs 277 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. The Sierra has a slight edge in the diesel category but only slightly.
Suspension
While the engine and transmission are important, suspension is very crucial as well. The Sierra has a slightly smoother handling and ride quality than the F-150 but this point can be argued both ways. Both trucks handle very well in tough conditions and each truck has effective 4WD.

The Truck Bed
The bed of a pickup is very important and a constant discussion around our Ford and GMC dealerships. The Sierras bed is wider measuring at 69x71 with 62.9 feet of cargo in the crew cab model. The Sierra features the Multipro tailgate that has different arrangements for access and functionality. While the bed of the F-150 is best known for being aluminum which will prevent rusting.
